Mubarak Wakaso was born on 25th July 1990 in Tamale in the Northern Region of Ghana. Wakaso grew up playing football in his native town Tamale.
He began his professional football career with Ghanaian local side Ashgold in 2007. Wakaso’ performance at Ashgold was impressive which led him to get the attention of Spanish club Elche FC.
In 2008, he signed with Elche CF in Spain on a five-year contract.
In late January 2011, after several bouts of indiscipline and internal codes violations, Wakaso was released by the Valencians. Shortly after, he joined another side in the region and Segunda División, Villarreal CF’s B-team.
Wakaso played for several other Spanish clubs including; Villarreal, Espanyol, Las Palmas, Granada, and Laves.
